What We Do (& Why We Do It)
Toni Morrison said it best: “In times of dread, artists must never choose to remain silent.”
And so it is that we find ourselves in a time of dread, wherein consequences actually are life or death. With issues this broad and deep, it can be hard to know where to start. But start we must, right here in our own backyard.
That’s why the Kin Folk Foundation provides the context and content through which roots musicians can gather to find community, creativity, courage, and collaboration. We hold space for social change music and its makers because we believe that art doesn’t just soothe our souls; it saves our society… and our society needs saving now more than ever.
Our initiatives exist to support artists as they speak truth to power by telling stories too often left untold. As they always have, those stories in songs galvanize all who continue to fight for what is right and water the seeds of equity, justice, and progress that will continue to grow for generations to come.
Kin Folk Foundation is where music has roots.
